"Observed...?" is a series of portraits created using large-format photography, which were then subjected to a visual deconstruction experiment using an action painting technique, involving the spontaneous pouring of photographic chemicals onto the image – thus giving it characteristics of abstract expressionism. Those observed by Marcin Szpak, whose images appear in the portraits, include Agata Turkot, Michalina Łabacz, Aleksandra Baj, Bartosz Bielenia, Marcin Dorociński, Szymon Piotr Warszawski, Miłosz Majchrzak, and Aleksander Kaleta.

Marcin Szpak (born in 1978), a graduate of the Warsaw Film School at the Department of Photography, class of 2008. His artistic projects intertwine with commercial work, where he operates in the field of photography and film. For many years, he built his portfolio by participating in photo sessions both in the country and abroad. His independent projects include: Radiograph, Very Twisted Kingdom, Sphinx, Silent, Stardust, Deep Blue, Four Seasons, Tabula Rasa.

The Artist's photographs are visions balancing on the border between reality and hallucination. He creates a world of fantasy, somewhat cruel and somewhat erotic. Within it, you will find portraits, objects, fashion, and an extraordinary registration of reality. Each photo session is enclosed within projects that tell different stories. His works have been exhibited multiple times both nationally and internationally.

He is a grantee of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the President of the City of Bydgoszcz.
