Background of memory
Background of Memory is an invitation to a personal world of memories, where each image is a separate story. This series, through the use of own family photographs, is deeply embedded in individual memory. The photographs, put together anew in non-existent configurations, seem to write the history of the past, but from today's perspective. The starting point in working on images here is the fragmentation, subjectivity and inaccuracy of memories and the blurring of the actual time and place of events. It is also an attempt to search for one's own identity, to examine the personal construction through confrontation with family memory.
Agnieszka Antosiewicz-Mas, born in 1979 in Wrocław. Graduate of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Wrocław and the International Photography Forum Kwadrat in Wrocław (2012). Currently a student at Piotr Komorowski's Author's Laboratory of Photography. Participant of group and individual exhibitions. In her work, she prefers staged photography. Her previous explorations focus on corporeality, transience and the concept of memory. Self-portrait, which is an attempt to formulate a number of universal meanings, holds a special place in her work. She lives and works in Wrocław.
